How can I possibly get through these 20 unread newsletters?
Wait a minute, who says I have to read everything?
And who says that I need to subscribe to them?
It was hard to say these words out loud: I was in fear of missing out. Fear of missing the latest article. In our world of never-ending information, it's impossible to catch it all. It's like I'm standing in the middle of multiple fire-hydrants, trying to capture all I can with one bucket.
I appreciate all those who curate each week.
Every issue takes countless hours to craft.
However, I realized that as I fear that I am missing opportunities to learn more, another opportunity is lost: It's the chance for others to learn from me.
Instead of FOMO, it's OAMO: others are missing out.
Curation is useful. Instead of looking for what's relevant, I select voices that can do the scanning for me.
But I need to spend time to digest and make sense. Then I can share how content speaks to meβ¦
based on my unique life experiences.
Don't worry about being original. As you get going, you will adjust to what resonates. It's a delicate balance to maintain: using what works while not just being a cookie-cutter copy.
"But I don't have anything to offer", you think.
Start thinking out loud in public.
