Glancing at my watch, five minutes remained.
Why didn't I set this up last night?!
How do you fix the distortion? Why are the colors washed out? Are my images blurry or is that the limit of the focus? Having spent months preparing for this talk, I needed to get this right.
Thankfully, in the final minute, everything came together and the screen clearly displayed the title slide. Thirty seconds to take a deep breath, drink a sip of water, and begin the presentation.
Projection:
speaking loudly so others can hear your voice
amplifying images to be seen on a large surface
misinterpreting what is "inside" as coming from "outside" (Wikipedia)
You have ideas worth spreading: But what if the means of presentation distracts from your objectives?
Spend as much time preparing for the delivery, as you do on developing your thoughts.
Looking the other direction, you hear another person's words and see their behavior. You make assessments based on your assumptions but never bother to check. Time passes, and the size and strength of that impression increases, as if the image projected grows larger, the further you go away from the source.
You might be engaging with your own projection as opposed to the real thing.
Lastly, the unintended projection can happen inwardly. False beliefs that you've never confronted. The scary notions are not as big as you perceive in your mind's screen.
You got this. Go ahead and improve your projection management.
